Colour and pattern

Seven printed motifs across ten colour families. The brand files the motif inside the colour name, so a rug listed as "Black tree of life patterned" is one colour and one pattern jammed into one field. This page separates them.

The motifs

Boho vintage and floral. The bulk of the range. Distressed, painterly florals with a faded ground, printed to look like a rug that has been in the room for thirty years. These are the designs the brand's oldest and most reviewed lines are built on.

Medallion. A central figure with a bordered field, the traditional layout of a Persian rug reinterpreted loosely. Reads as more formal than the florals and sits more comfortably in a dining room.

Paisley. Repeating teardrop figures, denser and more regular than the florals; the most graphic option in the range.

Abstract and impressionist. Soft brushstroke fields with no repeating figure. The quietest designs here, and the ones that sit best under a lot of furniture, because there is no pattern to be interrupted.

Tree of life. An illustrated design: branches, flowers and animals in strong colour. This is a statement rug rather than a background one.

Cat. Florals with cats worked into them. Sold across the doormat and runner sizes as much as the large ones.

Geometric. A single line in the range, trellis based.

How to read the swatches

The colour chips on this site are our own reading of the brand's colour names grouped into families, not measured samples. A rug listed as Pearl Gentian Blue and one listed as Night Blue both file under Blue here, and they are not the same blue. Use the family to narrow the list, then look at the photographs.

One thing worth knowing about photographs of printed rugs: they are shot in bright even light, and a distressed print with a faded ground reads lighter in that light than it will in a north facing room. If you are matching to something, expect the rug to arrive a shade deeper than the photograph.
